Abstract

Purpose: The aim of the present research is generally to evaluate the use of the creativity dimensions and components in Iran National Library website from its users’ point of view.

Method: We used survey method. Research population was composed of 19665 users and 173 librarians of the National Library & Archives of Iran (NLAI). The data collecting tool was a questionnaire which was designed by the researcher based on the various research resources in the website creativity area. In this questionnaire, 23 components of the website creativity have been classified under 8 general dimensions (Aesthetics, Originality, Importance, Interactivity, Changeability, Function, Effectiveness, and Personalization). Each of these components has been divided into sub-components. The questionnaires were distributed among the respondents (283 questionnaires).

Findings: Results showed that, acquiring 3.66 average score (52%), the NLAI website was in an intermediate position in terms of the use of the creativity dimensions and components. Of the investigated dimensions, “Originality” with 49%, and “Changeability” with 54% were in an intermediate position and “Function” with 61% was in a good position. As to the research hypotheses, a significant difference (at alpha= 0.05) was found between the evaluation scores of use of the creativity dimensions and components and the desired status, between different age groups, and between different educational levels. There were no significant differences between the evaluation scores of the NLAI’s members and staff.
