The first journal of the faculty of Education Sciences and Psychology, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad was "Educational Sciences and Psychology Newsletter".

The request for publishing this journal was received from the faculty president, Dr. Hossein Ali Koohestani on 27th of September, 1997.

In the first journal meeting on 21/04/1998, Dr. Mohammad Hossein Dayani was elected as the journal’s editor-in-chief.

In the spring of 1999, the first journal issue was officially published under the title "Journal of Education Sciences and Psychology".

On 13/03/2000, the request to convert the internal license to public, and on 18/09/2000, the request to obtain a membership number of the ISSN Global Publishing Network was made by Dr. Rahmatullah Fattahi, the research assistant of the faculty.

The journal stopped publishing for one year in 2002 to get a final publication license.

On 21/04/2004, an attempt was made to issue a journal license with the new title "Educational and Psychological Studies". Subsequently, the journal's publishing license under registration number 124/1405 was issued on 11/05/2006 by deputy of “Press and Advertising Affairs” of the “Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance”. 

On 11/05/2004, Dr. Mohammad Reza Davarpanah was elected as the editor-in-chief of "Educational and Psychological Studies” journal (due to the retirement of Dr. Mohammad Hossein Dayani on 03/03/2004).

On 09/06/2004, an agreement was signed between the Faculty of Education Sciences and Psychology of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad and the Iranian Society of Education, by Dr. Mohammad Reza Davarpanah, the editor-in-chief, Dr. Alireza Zakavati, the dean of the Iranian Society of Education, and Mr. Mohammad Rahimizadeh, the research assistant of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad in order to cooperate in continuing the publication of "Educational and Psychological Studies " journal.

Based on the permission of the country's Scientific Publications Review Commission No. 272/2910/3 dated 26/06/2004, the journal "Educational and Psychological Studies" of the Faculty of Education Sciences and Psychology of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad was recognized as journal with a scientific-research degree and was included in the list of valid scientific research journals.

On 16/01/2005, Dr. Bakhtiar Shabanivarki was introduced as the director-in-charge of the “Educational and Psychological Studies journal”.

During 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010, an issue of the journal titled "Special issue of Library and Information" has been published with a scientific-research degree.

From the beginning of 2012, according to the policy of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, the journal "Educational and Psychological Studies" was separated into three specialized journals.

These journals are published bi quarterly and based on licenses numbered 19/3/11/105030, 19/3/11/105031, and 19/3/11/105032 of the country’s Commission of Scientific Publications dated 05/03/2011, they have scientific-research grade.

Until 2017, the mentioned journals were published with Dr. Bakhtiar Shabanivarki's as a director-in-charge.

In 2017, a separate publication license was requested from the “Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance” for each of the above journals, and in 2018 and 2019, each journal received the separate license.

The director-in-charge and current editor-in-chief of the journal is prof. Mohsen Nowkarizi.
