A study of the amount of the application of Servant Leadership indices in the management of Isfahan state universities libraries

Abstract

This research aims at investigating the amount of the application of servant leadership component in the libraries of Isfahan state universities. The research method is descriptive survey study and the study population consists of managers and librarians of Isfahan state universities in 2009-2010.The sample was estimated 111 by using Cochran's formula. The random stratified sampling method was used and to achieve the research objectives a researcher-made questionnaire was used. The face validity of the questionnaire was confirmed by experienced professors and using Cronbach’s Alpha the reliability of the questionnaire was estimated 0.87 percent for the existing situation and 0.81 for the ideal situation. The findings showed that the amount of application of the servant leadership components in the existing situation were lower than average and in the ideal situation were higher than average. The findings in demographic characteristics, course of study showed that those who had librarianship degree assessed the amount of application of the servant leadership components higher than staff that didn't have librarianship degree. In demographic characteristics, place of work in both situations the differences were significant and the staff of Isfahan industrial university assessed the amount of existence of this component less and its utility more than the staff of other universities and in other demographic characteristics no different significance was seen
