Abstract

Abstract

Introduction: Knowledge sharing among employees is a key component in gaining a competitive advantage for organizations in today's dynamic environment. Knowledge sharing is vital for organizations, so the aim of this article is to identify and categorize barriers to knowledge sharing, rank these barriers, and provide solutions to overcome them in an organization.

Methodology: This research utilizes a mixed-method approach, and the data collection tools include library studies, semi-structured interviews, and questionnaires. The target population of this research consists of managers, administrative staff, and heads of counties in the Iran Public Libraries Foundation. The research sample includes 170 individuals selected through cluster sampling.

Findings: The results of the comprehensive analysis led to the identification of 83 indicators in 4 main dimensions, including technological barriers, organizational barriers, cultural barriers, and individual barriers to knowledge sharing. The dimension of technological barriers includes 12 indicators, the dimension of organizational barriers includes 21 indicators, the dimension of cultural barriers includes 15 indicators, and finally, the dimension of individual barriers includes 21 indicators.

Conclusion: The findings indicate that "organizational barriers" have the most significant impact, while "cultural barriers" have the least significant impact on knowledge sharing in the country's Public Libraries Foundation. Consequently, necessary solutions have been proposed to address these barriers
